Singing the Songs of Tolis Voskopoulos, Jenny Vanou and Other Great Laiko Hits... for a second season at PERAN. From October 31st and every Saturday at 22:30. Following last year's successful run, the musical performance "Singing the Songs of Tolis Voskopoulos, Jenny Vanou and Other Great Laiko Hits..." returns for a second season at PERAN – the city's cafe-aman. Starting Saturday, October 31st and every Saturday at 22:30, Athina Rigopoulou and Komninos Dounias join forces once again on stage with the maestro and bouzouki virtuoso Manolis Michalakis, in a musical journey dedicated to two iconic figures of Greek song: Tolis Voskopoulos and Jenny Vanou! Athina Rigopoulou, daughter of the unforgettable Jenny Vanou, approaches the songs that her mother stamped with her voice with overflowing talent, sensitivity, and a deep emotional connection. Beside her, Komninos Dounias, nephew of the great folk singer Giannis Dounias, carries on the family musical tradition, inheriting a wonderful, authentic folk voice from his uncle, offering his own genuine folk interpretations. A special place in the performance is held by Manolis Michalakis, who oversees the artistic direction and musical arrangement of the program. With a long and significant career in Greek laiko song, he served for seventeen years as the lead bouzouki soloist for Vicky Moscholiou, and previously performed for several seasons as a soloist for Tolis Voskopoulos. His experiential relationship with that great era gives the performance authenticity and distinct artistic weight. Although the core of the show features the great songs of Tolis Voskopoulos and Jenny Vanou, the program expands to include beloved works by the masters of our folk music. Songs by Tsitsanis, Papaioannou, Chiotis, Mitsakis, Zambetas, Akis Panou, Nikolopoulos, Xarchakos, Soukas, Moutsis, Loizos, and Polykandriotis compose an entire era full of melodies, stories, and powerful emotions.
